Gluten free & celiac travel

Read our experiences with gluten free & celiac travel here. Our oldest son T has celiac disease, and doesn’t tolerate gluten. He is even more sensitive than the average celiac patient. Eating just a little bit of food that is declared to “may contain gluten/wheat” will make him ill for at least some days. Ensuring a gluten free diet for T is always a necessity while travelling. He got the diagnose at age five, so by now we have a lot of experience. But it is not always easy, and requires planning and improvisation.

We have created a separate web-page for family, friends and classmates. It explains what gluten free means in practical terms, what ingredients are good/not good for T. And includes recipes for some of the bread that Helle bakes for T regularly. The page is in Danish.
